I know when you get older you begin thinking, "Well, I need to pull the blinds and put another lock on the door." It's so easy to get crotchety. You don't want to do that. I know you're old. Your enemy is telling you you're over it. Get past that. Today I had lunch at a Chinese buffet with 7 grandkids whom I love to pieces.
At Papa B's request, they tried to eat with chopsticks.
I loved it.
A life that's empty of purpose and passion until age 74 will not suddenly become filled upon retirement. If you're not active now, I can't imagine how docile you'll be when you get into your 70s and 80s. Practice now. Don't worry about what others think. Earlier today I worked out at the gym, as I do three days a week.
I am not a helpless victim.
Believe me, there is something I can do about my aging body to keep it in good shape.
After that we finished baling 12 acres of hay. It's simply called being active.
Friend, I'm inviting you to do the same. Be engaged. This is the best time now to do so. Stay strong in prayer. Be bold in courage. Cultivate closeness with your friends and family. The aging apostle Paul was such a model of this. No bitterness. He never got cranky. The man just pulled out all the stops.
Older saint: We need you bold and old.
