Do you love old pictures as much as I do?
This month, on September 11, Becky and I would have celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. Can you believe it? Fifty! I hope you will celebrate with me.
I think about Becky every day. I thought about her tonight while talking to my daughter who just moved to Houston with her family and is sewing curtains for their new home. "How much like, Becky," I thought.
She sewed not only curtains but many of her own dresses plus our reenacting uniforms and her ball gowns. She was a Proverbs 31 woman in so many ways.
People never ask me what the secret is to a happy marriage. But if they did I would tell them -- choose wisely. For example, make sure the person is someone you like to be around. Love is not enough if someone is irksome or irresponsible. Obviously there are other qualities I could mention too, but right now I'm fighting a head cold and can't focus with all the sneezing I'm doing. So you'll just have to put up with more sentimental marriage stuff later. You poor people. A lasting marriage is a truly wonderful accomplishment and a huge undeserved blessing from the hand of the Lord!
