"In the end, when it comes to the two thousand or so major textual variants in the Greek New Testament, I would argue that the original reading is indeed to be found in our printed Greek New Testaments as well as in our major English Bible translations. The only question is: Is the original reading printed in the text or in the apparatus? It is this question that makes textual criticism such an important and fascinating field of study."
