Who Are Your Favorite Theologians of All Time?

I've started asking some of my favorite theologians a question. "You're having a dinner party this Friday night. Which 4 theologians from any era of church history would you invite to the party?"

First up is my colleague Stephen Eccher. His doctorate is from St. Andrews in the U.K. His publications include A Handbook of Theology and the just-released Zwingli the Pastor: A Life in Conflict

I love this guy. He's a walking encyclopedia when it comes to the Reformation. His top four theologians? Here they are:

1. Athanasius.

2. Balthasar Hubmaier.

3. Martin Bucer.

4. Thomas Müntzer.

Thanks, Steve, for playing along.

I am deeply grateful for your friendship and example of careful scholarship through the years. I am eager to read your book on Zwingli -- one of my personal favorites of his era.
