Can't do a bodyweight pullup yet? Start with support that actually helps. Using a pullup band makes every rep feel more controlled, so you can train with confidence and see real progress. Here's an example from today's workout.
Pullup bands are basically training wheels until you can work your way up to bodyweight pullups. The pullup band is not a gimmick. It's a fantastic piece of equipment. As in all resistance training, it's about posture, form, and technique, not how many reps you can do.
P.S. Carrying excess body fat will make the pullup incredibly more difficult as you are pulling more weight. At 185 pounds I've found a pullup much easier to perform than when I was 240.
