But I'm not where I used to be either. Always compare your fitness with your starting point, not your end point. In fact, fitness has no end point; it's a lifelong commitment. I started lifting two years ago. I also cleaned up my diet. I am sooooo far from where I started. It would be true to say I'm not where I want to be, but I'm actually starting to see real results.
I am putting on muscle and taking off fat. I can see results in my chest, arms, and shoulders. Today I was lifting and said to myself, "This is such a blessing that I am able to do this. Thank you, Lord." I am having a lot of fun with the whole process and am excited to see where I will be a year from now. I will keep being patient with myself and not rush the process. The smallest changes make me happy and keep me going regardless of the other parts that have changed little. I look at myself after every workout and say, "You got this. Just keep at it and don't give up. Even when you fall get up and get at it again."
It's a long, slow process and I am loving every minute of it.
