The Dan River Trail beckoned on this gorgeous fall day in Southside Virginia.
It was cold and windy -- perfect for a long run along this historic river.
Earlier I hung out at the Y.
Clearly, I got issues. I mean, what other 71-year do you know goes to the gym when he could be sitting on his rocker watching reruns of Magnum PI? What to do about this? Well, there's always the option of ditching weight training altogether and eating Cheetos all day. But, in lieu of that, I can indulge in little things that make me happy, painstakingly aware that all good things will eventually come to an end. The sunrise this morning was calming and beautiful. It was a good time to reflect on the fact that each day on this earth is a gift. You can't rush life. You just have to sit in it. Embrace it. Above all, be responsible. Eat and rest well. Exercise, but don't beat your body up. Find what you love to do and do it.
