Aging Friend, As We Enter 2026, Take Heart!

"He will be our guide, even until death" (Psalm 48:14).

I've been on life's long road for quite a long time now. As we age, it's easy for us to grow fearful and wonder how the rest of the way will go. How will it be with us as God writes the last chapters of our life?

We need nor fear. Here's Walter, my professional mountain guide from last summer.

He guided me up the much-daunting Riffelhorn in the Swiss alps. I was safe as long as I followed him.

My aging friend, our Lord will be with us all the days of our lives. And that includes the rest of our days. Even when we can't rise up with wings like eagles or run and not and be weary, we can still walk and not faint. The rest of the way can be the best of the way if we follow our Guide. In the famous words of Henry Wadsworth, "Something remains for us to do or dare/ Even the older trees some fruit may bear."

Never forget that the Lord has made provision for the rest of the way!
