Here is the latest surf report for the island of Oahu. Something like this rarely if ever happens.
The North Shore is breaking. This includes Sunset Beach, Pipeline, and Pupukea.
The West Shore is also breaking. This means Makaha.
The South Shore is breaking too. This includes Ala Moana, Waikiki, and Diamond Head.
Finally, the East Shore is breaking as well. This involves Kailua (where I will be staying), Makapuu, and Sandy Beach.
Like I said, to have waves breaking at all four shores at the same time is rare. The largest swells are expected to arrive this weekend. Big, but not too big. Below are the beaches I hope to surf this week and next.
It's funny, but when I was growing up in Hawaii, the drive from Kailua to, say, Waikiki, seemed like it took forever. I mean, it was a big deal whenever we drove to "town" (Honolulu side). Of course, it actually only takes about a half an hour. My drive to campus takes twice that long!
