Anonymity Does Not Mean Unknown

Socrates once said, "The beginning of wisdom is the definition of terms." "Anonymity" does not mean "unknown." The letter of First John is formally anonymous. Yet we call it First JOHN. Hebrews is the only other New Testament letter that is formally anonymous. But read chapter 13 and you will see that the readers knew exactly who the author was. 

Again, anonymity does not equal unknown.
