The End of the Age (of the Book)

Historian John Lukacs believed that the "Age of the Book" (AD 1,500-2,000) had come to an end.

I'm afraid he's right. The digital age no longer requires people to be literate. It has become the new Middle Ages (which was definitely NOT an age of literacy). Why ban books when people have stopped reading them?
