During today's run the temp was over 80 degrees. Hard to believe that I had to put sunscreen on in March. Just one of those days that it got up to 81 degrees while I was running. Of course, I piled on the sunscreen. UV radiation exposure can cause skin cancer as well as premature aging and painful sunburns. People like me who've spent their entire life outdoors are at higher risk for UV damage and skin cancer, the most common form of cancer in the U.S. I use SPF 50+ whenever I go outdoors. Have done so for years. As you know, I am a skin cancer survivor.
Thankfully, my MOHS surgery was a complete success. Today I wear sunscreen and sunglasses. Please, friends, remember to put your sunscreen on. Hot summer days have nothing to do with skin cancer. Sun exposure at peak UV index time does. I always put on sunscreen before going outside. Please do the same.
