Facing a major decision in life? Here are 5 guidelines from something I heard years ago and jotted down in my journal. See if you don't find them useful:
A = Acceptance. Have an accepting frame of mind -- an attitude of openness regardless of what God's will may be or where it will lead. Say, "I'm willing, Lord."
B = Biblical instruction. Someone has said, "God's will is never contrary to God's word." The Bible is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Get into the word, then jot down your thoughts on a piece of paper. Write down any questions you want to think through. Probe God's word for guidance.
C = Conviction from the Holy Spirit. Some call this "inner compulsion." This means walking in the Spirit, being filled with the Spirit, being led by the Spirit, keeping in step with the Spirit. Try to sense his direction. It may not come quickly, but it will ultimately come.
D = Determine if peace is occuring. Paul writes, "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts" (Col. 3:15). If you're still churning, you're not there yet.
E = Expect struggles and surprises. Tests are inevitable even if you are in the will of God. But there will still be peace.
Hope this helps!
