Some people spend their extra money on Pumpkin Spiced Lattes and Frappuccinos. Me? I spend my extra money on race fees. I ran a over dozen races in 2021. Here were some of my favorites:
The MOST UNFORGETTABLE race was the Dahlgren Half Marathon in King George, VA. We didn't run this race, we slid the whole way.
That's me trying not to die from frostbite. |
The MOST UNIQUE race was the 10K on the Runway at the airport in Greensboro, NC.
This dude is my age and beat me by 10 minutes. Not fair. |
The MOST DIFFICULT race was the High Bridge 50K Ultramarathon in Farmville, VA. The race is so difficult I've decided to do it again this year, this time at night.
The endurance junkie in me is always looking for the next challenge. |
The MOST SCENIC race was the Richmond Marathon in Richmond, VA. You get to run through its historic district before enjoying great views of the James.
The crowds in this race never disappoint. |
The MOST HILLY race was the Blue Ridge Half Marathon in Roanoke, VA. I think "most mountainous" is more accurate. I'm going to hire a Sherpa when I run it again this year.
The Bee-Gees can eat their hearts out. |
The MOST ENJOYABLE race was the Virginia 10-Miler in Lynchburg, VA. It's not a race; it's a party.
Can't wait to five-peat this race in 2022. |
The MOST CHALLENGING race was the Luray Triathlon in Luray, VA. I'm not the slowest swimmer out there, but I'm certainly no Michael Phelps.
Don't let the placid scene deceive you. The water temp was a blistering 81 degrees. |
Now go out and make the best of 2022.
