Faulty hermeneutics leads to faulty spirituality and then to rationalized morality. Much of our hermeneutics (e.g., standpoint epistemology) is linked to an anthropology infused with contemporary philosophical currents, and all this in the name of being "progressive." "Progressive," however, can carry a negative as well as a positive connotation. If you're about to go over a waterfall, you are "progressing" over it. Without a sound hermeneutic, everyone becomes his or her own interpreter, and the outcome is disastrous.
What is the crisis of the church today if it is not a crisis of biblical authority and hermeneutics?
