I think I've come to value my sleep as seriously as my training. 10 hours seems to be my magic number. When I wake up I actually feel stronger than the day before. It's one reason I enjoyed today's 6 mile run so much.
Quality and duration of sleep are so important. Sleep routine is key. I'm in bed by 8:30 or 9:00 every night and I rarely get out of bed before 6:30 or 7:00 in the morning. The effects of long-term sleep deprivation are insane. With a good night's sleep I seem to perform better in every single aspect of life. You can perfect your workouts and eat all the right things, but without quality sleep you will always be held back from your greatest potential.
Rest well, my friend!
