I have two goals as a Greek professor:
1. Teach my students to think.
2. Teach my students to think for themselves.
Independence of thought is the crowning glory of the teaching profession. The teacher is not a dictator. We are there to give help and guidance. We are there to point to the Scriptures. While we may give our views with care and even quite strongly at times, we must never imagine ourselves to be the conscience of another. Rather, our aim is to point our students to an utter reliance upon Scripture.
That's the kind of teacher I want to be!
