I wanted to let everybody know that, Lord willing, I will be running the North Hills 5K this Saturday in Raleigh.
If you've ever been interested in running, this would be the perfect race for you to consider as your first 5K (3.1 miles). When I started running several years ago, the 5K drew the most road racers and for obvious reasons. Almost anybody, even walkers, can complete the race within the normal 1 hour time limit. It's also a very popular race, meaning that the number of runners almost guarantees that you won't be the last one to cross the finish line. Finally, the 5K is a do-able distance to train for because it's long enough to feel like an accomplishment and short enough not to be too intimidating.
This is one of my my all-time favorite 5K races. As you can see, it benefits a really good cause. If you do plan on attending, let me know. I will be driving to Raleigh for the race and then after the event I'll be heading down to Charlotte for a speaking engagement on Sunday. Would love to see you there.
