Here in my Wake Forest office today working on my chapter for the book on textual criticism.
My chapter is intended to bring the reader down to earth by using carefully selected examples to illustrate how a Sturzian position might resolve the age-old question, "How can we most optimally recover the text of the New Testament?" I'll discuss three textual variants that have tremendous significance for New Testament interpretation -- Eph. 1:1, Matt. 5:22, and John 3:13. The plurality of opinions on these passages is not surprising and is not necessarily a bad thing. Hypothesis is inevitable at this stage. That said, I hope that my essay may stimulate discussion and lead to a fuller appreciation of the Byzantine independence view. We shall see.
