Whatever your running goals are, take your time. Perhaps the most important quality for a beginner is patience. Go slow. Enjoy the journey. It's an exciting process to get into shape, so take as long as you need. If you get sore or tired or sick, drop back for a few days or weeks. Then get right back at it. Make your workouts as comfortable as possible but always push yourself more and more. Do it gradually. Your goal is to stay relaxed -- always. You'll get both fitter and faster the more you are patient with yourself.
